Hours of Operation
We will be open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Holiday Schedule
We will be closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Good Friday or Easter Monday, July 4th, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving, 3 days for Christmas (to be announced every year).

Dress Code
Children in the child care may wear play clothes; just remember that they will get dirty.  We do ask that they do not wear flip flops, only shoes with a strap on the back or tennis shoes and socks.  This is for their safety.
Summer dress code for 4 year old Kindergarten and school age children are knee-length shorts or shorts that are to the fingertips when the child’s arms are down.

Accidents
Wilson Christian Academy is not responsible for accidents or injuries incurred by the children during the activities of the child care center or also injuries incurred by another child (ex:  pushing, hitting, biting, etc.).  You must have your own insurance to cover doctor visits, etc.  An incident report is filed with the director after every injury or accident.  We also call parents if the incident has to do with the child’s head.

Booksacks/bags
Children are not allowed to bring bags/booksacks to child care.  The only exception is 4 year old Kindergarten.  If your child has to have a bag for any reason, you may leave it in the office area.

Food
We will provide your child with breakfast snack, lunch and two afternoon snacks.  Menus will be posted in the hallway at least one week in advance.  Children are not allowed to bring food into the child care.

Parties/Birthday Parties
We will have parties throughout the year.  There will be a sign-up sheet available for you to bring goodies.  We cannot have anything homemade, everything must be store-bought.  Do not bring anything that contains nuts.
You may have a birthday party for your child.  Please see your child’s teacher to inquire how they do parties in their rooms.  We cannot have balloons in the child care however, you may have them delivered. We will    show them to the children and then put them in the office.

Allergies
It is very important for you to let us know if your child has allergies.  There is a place on the medical form to list those for us.  Please be sure to make the child’s teacher verbally aware of those allergies also.

Clothing
Please bring your child an extra change of clothes.  Please label all your child’s clothes, this includes the following:  shirt, pants, dress, socks and underwear.  Any donations of these items for extra use will be greatly appreciated.  We will send out a reminder when it is time for the change of season.
If your child soils their clothes, and we do not have any extra, we will call you at work to bring them clothing.

Pacifiers
Your child is allowed to have a pasy in the infant room and the toddler room.  Please do not bring your child into the child care with a pasy after they have entered the 2 year old class.

Potty training
We will do everything that we can to HELP you potty train your little one.  The teachers are very good at potty training and they will lead you through the entire process.  Please remember we only potty train after the child is 2 years old and can stay dry for 2 hours at a time.  We only use pull-ups with Velcro sides.  We do not clean bowel movements out of underwear.

Playground
We have sand on our playground.  The children will go home with the sand in their shoes and on their clothes.   We apologize for this inconvenience, but just remember, they had a great time while they were out there playing.
They will go outside everyday, weather permitting.  Please dress them in appropriate clothing.  Always bring a jacket to school if you think it will be needed.

Cubbies
Please take a minute at the end of the day to check your child’s cubby.  We will be passing all important information about the child care through notes and updates in the cubbies.

Schedules and Activities
There are schedules posted in each child’s room.  We will be sending out lesson plans every week, except for summer, to let you know what your child will be learning.

Fire Drills
We will be conducting monthly fire drills for the entire center.  We do not want to frighten the child, but we do want them to learn how to be safe.

Tornado Drills
We will be conducting tornado drills on an as needed basis to refresh the memories of the teachers and children.  Again, it is not to scare the children, but to teach them how to be safe.

Car Seats
Your child needs to be in an age-appropriate car seat no matter who comes and gets them.  Do not forget to leave the car seat for grandma, uncle, etc. Should you need to leave it here for the day; place it in the classroom hallway in front of the glass door.  Be sure your child’s name is on the seat.

Lost and Found
Lost and found is located in each classroom.  If your child has lost something, please let the teachers know. Please do not allow them to bring anything that cannot be replaced.  Also put their name on their clothes, jackets, etc.

Comments
Please keep comments to the teachers on a positive level.  If you do not agree with something that the teacher is doing, please see the director.  We appreciate any feedback that can be given to help us improve.  Any parent that has a consistent negative attitude will be asked to remove their child from the child care center.

Dismissal from the child care
The director reserves the right to dismiss any child for continued improper behavior.  Ex. Hitting, back talking, cursing, disobedience, etc.  This policy is for any child that is deemed unruly to the point the teacher cannot maintain a normal classroom setting.  The other children who are behaving and obeying have a right to the teacher’s full attention.  Reasons for letting a child go will be discussed prior to the dismissal.  Parents will be notified of the behaviors and will have a chance to help change their child’s attitude or behavior.  Alternatives will be discussed prior to letting any child go.

Fees
Payments are due by Monday morning.  There will be no exceptions.  You may pay weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.  If you are paying by the month count the number of Mondays in the month and multiply your payment by that number.  If you are part time, and you have signed up for 2 – 3 days per week you are responsible for those days whether your child is here or not.  If you would like an extra day, you must also pay for that day.

Book Fee and Supply Fee
Book fees will be accessed to your account in October for any child 2 year old and up.  The fee is $25.00 per year and will cover the papers, etc. that your child gets to take home.
K4 book fees will be $100.00.  This is due ½ in October and ½ in March.
Supply Fee will be accessed to your account in March for any child in the child care.  The fee is $25.00 per year and will help us cover the things that we use up during the year.

Late Fees
Any child who is picked up after 6:00 p.m. on any day can be charged a late fee of $2.00 per minute this will be put on your account.  This is at the discretion of the director and will depend on circumstances or prior arrangements.  Anyone who is consistently late will be asked to pay upon arrival at the child care to the person that is staying with your child/ren.

Notice
Please give us 2 weeks notice prior to your child leaving the center.  If you do not give the two weeks notice, you will be charged for those two weeks.

Special Visits
Any parent or guardian is allowed to come to the child care center at any time.  The children will not be released to anyone if the parent or guardian has not been given prior written permission.  We encourage all family members to participate in their child’s early education.

Arrival
Each child must be taken to his/her classroom in the morning.  Please give the teacher time to acknowledge that the child is there and let the teacher know of anything that happened the night before or that morning.  (ex. Runny nose, ill-temper, lack of sleep, sadness, new sibling, etc.)
Please allow your child to walk into the classroom, this will go a long way toward promoting independence.  We ask that you kiss them, say goodbye and leave, do not linger in the classroom, this distracts the teachers from their duties of taking care of your child and the other children.  If you need to talk to them at length, leave a message up front for them to call you, or call between 12 noon and 2 p.m.

Departure
The children will only be released to their legal guardian or anyone on the approved pick up list.  If there is going to be someone else picking them up on a regular basis, please inform the teacher and add that persons name to your list.

Separation/Divorce
Although, it is the policy of the child care to stay out of matters involving separation and divorce of a child’s parents, you need to always tell us if this should occur with your family.  We will also need to be given a copy of the court papers stating the legal guardian, and custody arrangements.  If we do not have those papers on file, we cannot and will not stop the other party from picking up your child.  It is your responsibility to keep us informed.

Discipline
We use redirection as our first line of discipline, after that is time out.  If we are having continuous problems with your child’s behavior, we will notify you by phone or when you come to pick up your child.  If the problems consist for more than 2 days, we will call you to come and discipline your child or take them home.  We will keep you informed about the good/improved behavior as well.

Toys
Please do not allow your child to bring toys from home.  We do not allow the children to play with violent things such as guns, Power Rangers, Ninja Turtles, etc.  We will teach them to play with constructive things such as blocks, paints, play dough and puzzles.

Phone Calls
If you call about your child during the day, we will ask the teacher how he/she is doing.  If you want to talk to the teacher at length, please call between noon and 2:00 p.m.

Inclement Weather
For initial closings due to inclement weather, the child care will follow the decision of Wilson Christian Academy.  The closings report will specifically say Wilson Christian Academy Child Care Center.  The closings will be announced on Channels, 5, 7, and 11.  You may also visit our web-site at www.wilsonchristian.com for continuous updates.

Medicine
Because of the increasing liability in giving medicine, we have limited our medicines to the following:

Orajel – if the gums are bulging and the child is miserable

Diaper Cream – we use the diaper cream that the parent provides

Gas drops – bottle-fed babies only and if needed

Prescription medicine – we will only give prescription medicine that is approved by the director.  The director will only approve medicine that is medically necessary for the function of the child during the day. Ex; asthma medicine, ADHD medicine, reflux medicine, etc.

It is against the state health code for the children to have any kind of medicine, lotion, Chap Stick, perfume, etc. in their possession, including in their diaper bags, book bag, or pocketbook.  Please be sure to leave these things at home.

Sickness
Please read and sign the separate sick policy.

Curriculum
Beginning with our toddlers, we have a curriculum oriented program.  The curriculum consists of Bible lessons, Bible verses, arts and crafts, phonics, story time and song time.  We believe that children need to be in a controlled environment and we offer that for your child.  We have seen amazing things that they can lean about God and their environment.  You are welcome to sit in the classroom and watch the teachers teach and how the children respond.

Bring with your child the first day
Infants – bottles, extra change of clothes, diapers, wipes, cream
Toddlers and up—extra change of clothes, diapers, wipes, small travel pillow and blanket, a cot mat—(will pass up with child from room to room)
Everybody – Application, Discipline Policy, Notary Form, SIDS policy, paper with 4 signatures, and Information billing sheet
The medical form and shot records are due by the 20th day that the child is enrolled in the child care.
